David Dorrance Dudley, age 81, of Atlanta, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2006. He was born in Long Beach, CA to the late Roy and Eleanor Winifred Dorrance Dudley. He earned his Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering at MIT. Early in his career, he worked at the Savannah River Plant where he would meet his future wife of 38 years, the late Barbara Allen Dudley. Later, he was President of Associated Data Systems and he finished his career with the Georgia DOT. He enjoyed dabbling in real estate through his company Dudley Properties LLC. His interests included a love of history, playing bridge, and being an avid tennis player. Later in life, he enjoyed being a member of the King's Bridge Breakfast Club. He was a true renaissance man. Survivors include his sons and daughter-in-law, B. David Dudley of Atlanta and Peter Dudley and Zuly Parra of Albuquerque, NM; daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca Dudley Smid and Derek Smid of Tallahassee, FL and Beth Wagner and Steve Wagner of Atlanta; and four grandchildren, Max, Kalliope, Tab, and Talia. Memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 400 Perimeter Center Terrace #750, Atlanta, GA 30346, www.jdrf.org. Funeral services will be held at 11 o'clock on Saturday morning in the Oglethorpe Hill Chapel. Interment will follow at 3:30 Saturday afternoon at Westover Memorial Park, Augusta. Friends are invited to visit with the family one hour prior to the service at H. M. Patterson & Son, Oglethorpe Hill, 4550 Peachtree Road NE, Atlanta, (404) 261-3510.
