Will of Levi Dudley
In the name of God Amen.
I, Levi Dudley of the province of North Carolina in Sampson County, Being week of body but of sound mind and perfect memory. Liberty being given of Almighty God. Do make and ordain this my last will and testament.
First of all I recommend my soul to Almighty God who gave it. Hoping through the Merits death and pashion of Christ to have full pardon and forgiveness through my blessed redeemer, of all My sins and my body I commit to the earth to be decently buried. At the discretion of my executors hereafter named, and what worldly goods and estate it hath pleased God to bestow upon me, I give and bequeath unto my brother Eden Dudley one cow and calf. Item – To my son Elam Dudley one dark bay maire and one smooth bord gun. Item – I give and bequeath to my daughter Nasmey Dudley one feather bed. Item – I give and bequeath unto my daughter Lydia Dudley one feather bed one pot. Item – I give and bequeath to my son Ely Dudley, one years old filly. Item – I give and bequeath to my daughter Hepzibah Dudley one feather bed. Item – I give and bequeath all the rest of my property and estate indoors and out to be equally divided amongst my four youngest children. Who’s names is as follows, Enoch Dudley, Lilley Dudley, Jenet Dudley and John Dudley, and Lastly I appoint Eden & Elam Dudley as my hole and sole Executors of this my last will and testament, all my former wills to be void an of non affect Whereun to I set my hand and Seal. This the 11th day of January 1808.
