Muriel, I have two connections to the family of Michael & Mary (Blankenship) Declue. If you look at the 1870 census entry for Michael & Mary's family (Washington Co., Liberty Twp., Sheets 125 A&B, family no. 162), you see that Michael's brother, Antoine, and sister, Martha, were living with them. Also next door is family 161, Robert & Julia Ann (Declue) Gough [spelled Goff on this census]. Julia Ann was another sister of Michael's. Robert Gough was a cousin to Mary Blankenship. Robert & Julia Ann Gough were parents of my grandmother, Louella Gough, who was born 1875.

Mary Blankenship was daughter of Charles Henry & Elizabeth (Gough) Blankenship. Robert was son of John H. & Lamanda (Christian) Gough.

Your Michael Declue was son of Charles Vital & Keziah (Brown) Declue/Duclos. Michael was born 28 Oct., 1835, and was christened 24 April, 1835, at St. Joachims Catholic Church at Old Mines, Washington Co., MO. Charles & Keziah's second child was Julia Maria, b. 27 Sept., 1837, christened at St. Joachims 8 July, 1838, died probably before the 1840 census. The next child was probably the daughter who is listed on the 1850 census as "Alley," b. ca. 1839, then Julia Ann, b. 13 Feb., 1841, christened 14 July, 1841, St. Joachims, died after the 1880 census probably in Franklin County.

I have more on the ancestry of both Michael Declue and his wife, Mary Blankenship. If you are interested email me.
