I am the daughter of Emily Whitford Duchemin whose father George Watson Duchemin was born in Prince Edward Island around 1864.My great aunt Lavinia Duchemin researched the family whom originated in France outside of Paris. Watson Duchemin was born in England around 1800. the story I heard was that 3 brothers left France for political reasons in the 17th century. Their father was Count Julien, and the name was originally St. Julien. duChemin being a name they took temporarally until they met again. I know that one brother went to the Isle of Wight. I am going to PEI in June, hopefully to find out more info on the family. Watson Duchemin lived in Charlottetown and invented the first ball bearing and patented it.It transformed his own hoisting-block businessHe also had other inventions
