Dear Lisa
There was a Gilles or Gilbert Du Chemin, who married a Quebedeau lady about 1763 at the village of St. Phillippe or Fort de Chartres, Illinois. When Fort de Chartres was evacuated in 1764, Gilles and his wife went to and helped founded St. Louis, Missouri. Hope this will help.
