Seeking info on a Florence Dubois, born about 1871 according to later census data. Family recollections state she was born on a plantation in South Carolina and that her father was a slave owner. I have checked the 1860 Slave Schedule to find DuBois slave owners.
Of course, family stories can be wrong...
I find 3 SC slave owners in 1860:
Jesse Dubois
Dr. T.J. Dubois (can't find him on the 1860 Federal, however)
JQ Dubois
If anyone has a lead on Florence I would love to hear back from you!
