Hi:
ireceived imformation from war dept. that my uncle Charles was killedby a machine gun defending a counter attack Oct 11, 1918 defending a position between St .Juvis and Fleville. They sent a copy of his battle, a picture of his grave and the cemetery.
Mathurin's 4 sons had between 9 and 20 children, no wonder the name is common in Canada and USA. It is spelled Dube' -Dube -Dubay- DuBay-Dubey, Dubie , Duby, dubeye, etc.also a few Doobies.
I do a lot of genealogy and my mother's family the Albees, came from England in 1637 to Boston, Mass. Tracing the family roots i found that the Albee name originated in Normandy, maybe from Auby near a town named Duvy and the name was Di Albi (Came to England in the Norman invasion in 1066) The name evolved to De Albe then the De wasdropped to then Albe then Albee. So if I go back far enough I am of French dsecent on both sides.
Methurin's wife Marie Campion came from Sainte Malo in Brittany ( another claim St Nacaise Rouen)
If you would like to continue our correspondance although a large differences in our age, my emailis [email protected]
