Col. Dry, Green County, Kentucky, 1796

While researching my William Smith line I came across a Benjamin Smith in Central Kentucky. According to the Kentucky Gazette Vol. X, No 7, 29 Oct 1796 there is an entry that follows:

W. Barnet regarding land to be sold in Green County to satisfy overdue tax bills. Mentions: Benjamin Smith and wife (executors of Col. Dry),

I get the impression from this passage that Benjamin's wife may have been the daughter or sister of Colonel Dry who lived in Green County, Kentucky.

I would like to know more about Col. Dry and how he might be related with the Smith family.
