Joan,

This is not my line, but there is a Tyrie Drury om the 1880 Census for Bossier Co LA. He is 30 and listed as born in LA with both parents from AL. His wife Sarah is also 30, LA/NC/NC. Four children, Lizzie (8), Anna (6), and twins William and Sarah (4). All children are born in LA.

The spelling of the name is difficult to read. the first two letters are definitely Ty and the last two ie. The center letter may be an r based on other letters on the page. Tyree would not be an unusual name in LA. Maybe your tie-ry is the same.

No other records of him that I found. it looks like the son William is in Lincon, LA down the road in 1910 LA census. He is listed as Dury in the index but clearly Drury on the tape. Married to Cora, with Lewis and Harry. He is still there in 1930, with wife Cors and now with Virgie L, Clara E and Dora B.

Given the location in NW LA you should widen your search to include Ark and TX. Not that many Drurys in AL in 1850, but I don't know the lines well.

Michael
