Confused on Elias Drury b. 1778 St. Mary's, Maryland

I am researching the parents of this Elias. I'm finding that he was born in 1778. His supposedly, father was a John Chrysostom Drury. The father was born in 1766 making him only 12 years old at the time of Elias' birth. I have this father as marrying in 1779 making him only 13 at the time, and having this son Elias that is one year old before marriage. I'm finding this info everywhere on the web. Having a hard time believing this. If someone can shed some light, I would greatly appreciate it.
