Michael, It is my belief that George Drewrie and Hugh Drury are the same man. The only data that we have on their dates of birth -- George's 18 in April 1635 when the Abigail sailed and Hugh's from court records -- indicate an overlap that could allow both to be the same man. More critically, when George arrived on the Abigail he was signed in the same day as John Freeman. Freeman was also a carpenter, and may have been apprentice Hugh's master. In 1640, when Hugh first appears in Sudbury, he taks possession of a home that he had lent L3 (three pounds) against. When he takes possession he is accompanied by the same John Freeman. The Abigail carried many carpenters who were destined to work at either the fort at Saybrook, CT or the Iron works at Saugus, both of which were backed by John Winthrop, JR the Governor of CT who came on the Abigail. Hugh Drury married Lydia Rice, the niece of Alice Frost Blower. Alice married William Tiolly of the Abigail before hugh's marriage. Another Abigail passenger, Hugh Gunnison married Alice's daughter Sarah. Hugh's life is full of overlaps with former Abigail passengers, reinforcing my view that he was in fact George Drewrie.
