CLARK DRURY, d 3 Sept 1860, bur Barre VT
Posted by: Lorna Dunklee (ID *****2198) Date: July 04, 2006 at 09:10:56
  of 1698

Who is this Clark Drury? He died 3 Sep 1860, age 37y 9m 10d. He is buried next to Armida (d 1874) and Joseph Drury (d 1886) in the Elmwood Cemetery in Barre, VT. with an almost identical gravestone to theirs. No source that I have looked at names Clark Drury as one of the sons of Joseph and Armida, although they supposedly had eight children and I have only been able to positively identify five of them. through censuses, etc.

I would love to try to find an obituary for Clark. Any suggestions?

The known children of Joseph and Armida (Holden) Drury are:
--Lyman Drury, b c1829, m Mary J. Stafford in 1855.
--Martha Drury, b c1831, m Luther Nutting.
--"Mandy" [per two census reports] Drury, b c1838.
--Eli Holden Drury, b c1841.
--Orinda Miles Drury, b 8 Feb 1845, Barre, VT, m Charles Willard Evans in 1868, Barre.

I recently found a death notice for a Warren Drury, b cJuly 1835 and died 29 May 1886, who could be a son of Joseph and Armida. The record called him the son of Joseph and "Almeda" Drury, so the likelihood is pretty strong.

The 1830 census suggests that there should have been two more sons... possibly Clark and another boy. A short bio in Hamilton Child's Gazetteer of Orange Co. VT states that Joseph had eight children.

Any help finding proof of the children of Joseph and Armida Drury will be gratefully accepted.
