Dr. William H. Drury was a son of William R. and Eliza (Taylor) Drury of Ross Co., Ohio. His obit:

"DR. DRURY DEAD. - Expired Suddenly In Beany's Drug Store. - Death Was Caused by Disease of the Heart. - He Had a Serious Attack Several Months Ago, but Had Seemingly Recovered. - Dr. W. H. Drury, one of the oldest and most highly respected physicians in Columbus, died suddenly in Beany's drug store, 779 East Long street, about 10 a.m., the cause being heart disease. Just a few minutes before the doctor had entered the drug store and taken a drink of water. Dr. W. W. Beany noticed that Dr. Drury was not looking well and asked him what was the matter. Dr. Drury said he had just been attending a patient on Curtis avenue, but the attack growing more severe, he stopped to rest.

He was made comfortable on a lounge in the back room of the drug store. His breath seemed to be short and in order to relieve him, Dr. Beany unbuttoned his coat. Dr. Drury said he was getting worse, and Dr. Beany called Dr. T. J. Jones, an old friend of Dr. Drury, who was in the store at the time. Upon Dr. Jones' order, the suffering man was given a small drink of whisky to revive him. This was of no avail and Dr. Drury fell into a quiet sleep from which he never awoke.

Coroner Birmingham was called and after an examination decided that death had been caused by heart disease. The body was ordered taken to his late residence, 110 North Grant avenue, which he had left but a few hours before, seemingly in good health. The widow was almost prostrated by her sudden and awful bereavement.

W. W. Drury was born in Chillicothe, O., on March 31, 1833, and came to Columbus when a young man. He entered his father's dry goods store, then on the site now occupied by Dobble's dry goods store. Desiring to enter the medical profession, Mr. Drury went to New York and took a thorough course in the College of Physicians and Surgeons. He was graduated from that institution in 1857 and came at once to Columbus, where he entered the office of Dr. Norman Gay. He was associated with him for many years. Dr. Drury was one of the best physicians in the city and with the exception of Dr. Loving was the oldest practitioner in Columbus.

In August, 1875, he married Miss Elizabeth Herbert and she and two sons, Herbert, aged 21 years, and Robert, aged 19, mourn the death of a loving husband and a kind father. Mrs. A. P. Schofield, a daughter by a former wife, resides in Mechanicsburg. Herbert lives at home, while Robert is in camp at Chickamauga, as a member of battery H.

Some months ago Dr. Drury had a severe attack of heart trouble but he rallied and was seemingly in good health. He was in especially good spirits this morning, when he left home to call on his patients. Since his son, Robert, went away with the battery, the doctor and his wife have worried not a little. Robert did all he could to cheer them up by his bright letters and was succeeding somewhat. Just before leaving home this morning, Dr. Drury had received a cheerful letter from Robert and this was particularly pleasing to him. A telegram notifying him of Dr. Drury's death was sent to Robert Drury and if possible he will secure a leave of absence and come to Columbus to attend the funeral.

The bereaved family have the sincerest sympathy of a host of friends in their great and crushing sorrow."

I have more on this family if anyone is interested.
