John, We have no concrete evidence to prove that Hanah Gee who married Charles Gee about 1690 was Hanah Drury, however it has been a tradition that Drury was her surname/maiden name. It was then used as a given name for generations forward. Charles Drury was among those listed on the 1704-5 Quit Rent Rolls from Nansemond County and Charles Gee was listed from Prince George County. A Charles Drury was listed in Cavaliers (Vol. 1, p. 539)in the Chuckatuck Parish in 1663, again in 1662 assigning 41 acres to him (Cavaliers, Vol. II, p. 238). Then, there are land patents for 41 acres and 209 acres for a Charles Drury. It has been suggested that this 209 acres may be down in what is now North Carolina. Would like to hear from you with some good information. Marian Notify Administrator about this message?
