Hi,
I just posted an old funeral notice for Capt. William S. DRUMMOND, which has a link to a related news article that ID's him as a ship's captain (versus an Army captain). This was scanned from an original issue (NOT microfilm!) of the Norfolk Virginian newspaper dated January 1, 1880, and you can see it online here:
