Drum(m) in Drummond family history

I have traced my Drum(m) family back six generations from Pennsylvania back to Virginia back to Scotland. I have reached a road block and am now wondering if the name was shortened from Drummond. Does anyone have any Drum(m) names in their family history? I traced Drum(m) back to emmigrate from Scotland sometime around the mid-1700s. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
