The birth of James and the marriage intention of his parents are recorded in the Attleboro vital records (Vital Records of Attleborough, Massachusetts, to the Year 1850, p. 104:
James Drown, son of John & Lucy (Woodcock), b. 23 Nov 1777.
John Drown of Providence & Lucy Woodcock of Attleboro, marriage intention 1 Apr 1775.
Lucy is the daughter of William Woodcock. Thank you
