Stephen Driscoll, 1912-1939, New York
My Mom's birth father, Stephen Driscoll, died when she was infant, and the fact that she was adopted by my grandmother's second husband was kept from her until many years later. I'm now trying to track the Driscoll family, and not making very much progress - if anybody can provide any leads, I'd be grateful.
The only solid connection I've been able to find is the 1930 Census in which "Stephan" is an 18 or 19 year-old living at home on Sumpter St, Brooklyn, NY. His father is Daniel, a 42 year-old taxi driver working on at least his 2nd marriage. Daniel was born in New York, but his parents are from Ireland. Daniel's wife is Margaret, age 29. Daniel and Margaret were married about 1927, and have had 2 girls, Marie and Anna in 1930. Margaret is listed as born in New York with parents from New York.
We do not know Stephen's mother's name, nor do we know what happened to her.
We know that Stephen was killed in a traffic accident (he may have been a pedestrian) on 17 Feb 1939.
This is as far as I've been able to get with two months of nearly daily online searching.
