Thank you,Chris! My son-in-law is descended from a John Drake bron abt 1750 in PA or NJ.I have tried to trace the ancestry of every John Drake of this time period and they are all accounted for except the John Drake born to John Drake (b 1722) who was born in Brooklyn, lived in Goshen, NY and is buried in Upper Smithfield, Northampton co, PA.
I have probably erroneously concluded that my son-in-law is from the so-called "Dutch" Drake line. At present he is about to submit his DNA to the Drake DNA surname Project and finally identify which Drake line is his. I may have wasted considerable time on the New Amsterdam research, but it wont be a waste if my suggestion, posted here, helps the Driggs descendants in the same way that the DNA project, hopefully, will help my son-in-law. His late father would be so pleased.
