I haven't figured out who you are referring to re Samuel and Elizabeth. Samuel(1800-1862) son of Humphrey married 1st.Mary Ann Bittle and 2ndly Mary Eliza Avent. He did take in his nephews,Humphrey and James Hal D. after the death of his brother, John. Dr Emmett's land was within a mile of S.D.'s - east next to the Correctional Farm. Samuel Jr. m'd an Elizabeth (?Arrington) but that was in the mid 1700's. Samuel III (1763-1826) married 1st Elizabeth Denhart and 2ndly Lucy Arrington. Samuel IV was u.m.'d. Incidentally, John (mentioned above) married 1st Martha J. Francis and 2ndly Elizabeth Rose. They were all dead by 1848.
