IF ANYONE CAN HELP ME WITH INFORMATION ON THE MY DREWES FAMILY LINE. I WOULD BE VERY GRATEFUL. THE FIRST KNOWN GENERATION 1. Casten Heinrich DREWES was born on March 24, 1828 in Sudbostel, , Germany. (son of ___ DREWES and ___) He died on ___ . Our family origins begin in the villages of Fischendorf, Einzingen, and Dorfmark, Germany. Both villages are located in Dorfmark parish and are suburbs of Fallingbostel today. Fallingbostel is located in Soltau-Fallingbostel, L"uneburg, Niedersachen (Lower Saxony), Germany. Niedersachen includes the former duchey of Braunschweig, the kingdom or province of Hannover, the duchy of Oldnenburg in Oldenburg (grand duchy of Oldenburg), and the principality of Schaumburg-Lippe. The Historical Province of Hannover had been an independent state. In 1866 it became a Prussian province.The capital of the state (Land) of Niedersachen today is Hannover. Casten was married to Catharine Marie Elisabeth AHRENS on April 16, 1855 in Fallingbostel, Soltau-Fallingbostel, L"uneburg, Niedersachen, Germany. They had six surviving children. Catharine Marie Elisabeth AHRENS was born on July 27, 1829 in Fallingbostel, Adolphsheide, Germany. (daughter of ___ AHRENS and ___) She died on ___. Casten Heinrich DREWES and Catharine Marie Elisabeth AHRENS had the following children: 2 i. Johann Heinrich Christoph DREWES was born on March 13, 1855/56 in Fischendorf, Fallingbostel, Soltau-Fallingbostel, L"uneburg, Niedersachen, Germany. +3 ii. J. Heinrich DREWES (born on March 13, 1856). He may be the same man as above. 4 iii. Friedrich Christoph Wilhelm DREWES was born on January 6, 1859 in Fischendorf, Fallingbostel, Soltau-Fallingbostel, L"uneburg, Niedersachen, Germany. +5 iv. "Fred" Johann Heinrich Friedrich DREWES (born on July 30, 1860). 6 v. Heinrich Wilhelm DREWES was born on July 27, 1863 in Fischendorf, Fallingbostel, Soltau-Fallingbostel, L"uneburg, Niedersachen, Germany. +7 vi. William DREWES (born on ___).He may be one of these listed. 8 vii. Georg Christoph Wilhelm DREWES was born on February 10, 1866 in Fischendorf, Fallingbostel, Soltau-Fallingbostel, L"uneburg, Niedersachen, Germany. +9 viii. Ilse Marie Dorothea DREWES (born on September 7, 1869). SECOND GENERATION 3. J. Heinrich DREWES (Casten Heinrich-1) was born on March 13, 1856 in Germany. (son of ___DREWES) Could he be our brother listed above? He settled in Botha, Stettler County, Alberta, Canada with other Drewes families. DREWES, Elsie Michelau DREWES, George DREWES, Martha Erichsen DREWES, Martin DREWES, William & Dorothea There were other DREWES Families living in South Edmonton; Edmonton City, Alberta, Canada. J. Heinrich died on August 8, 1921 in Botha, Stettler, Alberta, Canada. He was buried on August 11, 1921 in Woodland Cemetery, Botha, Stettler, Alberta, Canada. He was married to Anna Maria Elizabeth ___ on ___ in ___. Anna Maria Elizabeth was born on May 6, 1855 in Germany. She died on July 5, 1935 in Botha, Stettler, Alberta, Canada. She was buried on July 8, 1935 in Woodland Cemetery, Botha, Stettler, Alberta, Canada. "Henry" J. Heinrich DREWES and Anna Maria Elizabeth had the following children: +10 i. William Henry Fred DREWES (born on April 19, 1887). 5. "Fred" Johann Heinrich Friedrich DREWES (Casten Heinrich-1) was born on July 30, 1860 in Fischendorf, Fallingbostel, Soltau-Fallingbostel, L"uneburg, Niedersachen, Germany. (son of Casten Heinrich DREWES and Catharine Marie Elisabeth AHRENS) He changed his name to Frederick Henry Drewes when he became a citizen of the United States. He immigrated about 1908. He decided to join his brothers who had already moved to Alberta, Canada. His mother-in-law, Mrs. EUHUS joined the family in their journey. The group entered Canada. Mrs. EUHUS did not live long after they arrived in Canada; she became ill with dropsy and died in Edmonton in 1909. Language barriers and different customs did not help as they faced winter conditions much more severe than they had known in Germany. After tiring of Canada's severe weather and hearing about the beauty and prosperity to be found in Mercedes, Hidalgo, Texas, the family traveled from Alberta, Canada, and entered the United States at the portal of North Dakota on December 15, 1909/10. Upon entering the U.S. a form was signed relinquishing any foreign allegiance. The family traveled with Fred’s brothers and sisters (five families in all). The Group went by train to Mercedes, Texas in 1910 and in cooperation the families bought about 160 acres of farm ground. The crops in Mercedes Texas produced well but the market prices were too low to bring much support to the growing families. The families could no longer financially make it in Texas and decided to move. It is at this time that our family lost track of Fred’s sibling; he moved his family to Idaho. Where the others are we wish we knew. Fred died on December 31, 1932 in Idaho Falls, Bonneville, Idaho. He was married to Marie Christine Dorothea EUHUS (daughter of ___ EUHUS and ___ ) in 1889 in Fallingbostel, Soltau-Fallingbostel, L"uneburg, Niedersachen, Germany. Marie Christine Dorothea EUHUS was born on February 7, 1870 in Fallingbostel, Soltau-Fallingbostel, L"uneburg, Niedersachen, Germany. She changed her name to Marie Dorothy Drewes when she entered the United States. She died on December 24, 1946 in Idaho Falls. 7. William DREWES (Casten Heinrich-1) was a Trustee of the Ebenezer Evangelical Lutheran Church on August 4, 1914 in Mercedes, Hidalgo, Texas. William Drewes and Henry Kruse, Trustees of the Ebenezer Evangelical Lutheran Church. This William Drewes was living in Mercedes, Hidalgo, Texas in 1914, During the time our family lived in Mercedes,1910-1916. He must be related. Could he be Heinrich Wilhelm Drewes or Friedrich Christoph Wilhelm Drewes? 9. Ilse Marie Dorothea DREWES (Casten Heinrich-1) was born on September 7, 1869 in Fischendorf, Fallingbostel, Soltau-Fallingbostel, L"uneburg, Niedersachen, Germany. (daughter of Casten Heinrich DREWES and Catherine Marie Elisabeth AHRENS) She was indexed with her husband in a Canadian local history book, "DREWES Families; South Edmonton Saga; Edmonton City." as "HEUER, Heinrich & Marie". She died on ___ in ___. She was married to Heinrich Friedrich HEUER (son of ___ HEUER) on March 30, 1894 in Einzingen, Fallingbostel, Soltau-Fallingbostel, L"uneburg, Niedersachen, Germany. Heinrich Friedrich HEUER was born on ___ in ___. He died on ___ in ___. THIRD GENERATION 10. William Henry Fred DREWES (J. Heinrich-2, Casten Heinrich-1) was born on April 19, 1887 in Hannover, Niedersachsen, Germany. (son of unknown parents) He must be related to the J. Heinrich Drewes above. He died on April 3, 1960 in Stettler, Stettler, Alberta, Canada. He was buried in Woodland Cemetery, Botha, Stettler, Alberta, Canada. He was married to Dorthea Christine WISHOFF (daughter of ___ WISHOFF) in 1910 in Stettler, Stettler, Alberta, Canada. They had 5 daughters. They were indexed in "Botha Memories" (DREWES, William & Dorothea). Dorthea Christine WISHOFF was born in 1889 in Germany. She died in 1953 in Stettler, Stettler, Alberta, Canada. She was buried in Woodland Cemetery, Botha, Stettler, Alberta, Canada. 15. Carl DREWES (____-2, Casten Heinrich-1) was born on ___ in ___. (son of unknown parents) Carl was identified from a photograph as a nephew of Fred Drewes, but no one knew the names of his parents. He was married to Kathryn ___ on ___ in ___.
