My gt. gt. grandfather was Jonathan Drew b. 1800, NC. I am sure that he was a son of the Benjamin Drew who appears in the 1820 census of Wilson County as he had a number of sons. This Benjamin was in Wilson County until at least Oct of 1829 when he sold land. He married in 1799 Nancy Buchanan. So indirectly you have helped to support my theory. But Benjamin is the only possible father for these Drew men coming into Southern Illinois.
However, mygt.gt grandfather Jonathan married Jane Martin in 1821 in Rutherford co.,TN part of Bedford and Wilson tied into this as well. In 1840Jonathan was in Richland co.,Ohio which shows he had two cenus in that census . By 1850 he is in Bedford Co.,TN. My thought always was that since there were two boys< Benjamin Martin Drew and William Martin Drew that Jonathan named one after his father putting in wifesmaiden name and one after her father William Martin. It is a shame that there were no death records or marriage records that would have given parentage. My gt. grandmother Elizabeth Jane Drew first married David Rogers and after his death she is living with Benjamin Martin Drew and his family. In 1862, she married my gt. grandfather Albert Gibbs and moved to his farm in Jefferson co.,Ill. next door to Franklin. In 1880 census William Martin Drew is shown living next door to her. This is why I believe they are Jonathan's sons. These people moved so much -my Jonathan that you could hardly keep up with them. They were also in the same area of Illinois in the mid to late 40's as Benjamin and William.
