Several years ago I came across an entry for one of my wife's ancestors, but never followed up the info. Today I thought that it would be interesting to see whether anyone else on this Board had the following family within their own ancestry, as I could then fill them in with what happened to this particular branch. In Cardiff, GLA, in 1876, a James DREW married a Mary Ann HALL (bo. 1856, Regd Pembroke). On the 1881 Census for 50 Russell Street, Cardiff (parish of St. John) was Mary DREW (but not her husband, James) and 2 children;- Annie DREW (bo. c1878 at Narberth, Wales; and James G DREW (bo. c1880, also at Narberth). Mary DREW is shown living with her parents, George HALL (a 'Groom') and Mary Ann HALL, and she was entered as being a 'Dressmaker'. Of Mary's parents, her father was George HALL (son of Thomas HALL, a farmer), whilst her mother was Mary Ann[e] GILLAM (dau of David GILLAM, a labourer) and they had married in the Parish Church of St. John, Cardiff, GLA on 3 Nov 1856. Both at the time were of 'Full age' (he approx 31, and she approx 26), and Witnesses were P. Money and Mary Rice. George HALL and Mary Ann[e] HALL (nee GILLAM) may have had other children, but they certainly had an Elizabeth (or Elizabeth Mary) HALL, bo. 1857 (Regd. Narberth), and she married Thomas Abraham WHITE (in Cardiff, GLA, in 1875. Of their children and descendants I have much more information as it's from that marriage that my wife is descended! I apologise for my long message, but besides wondering what happened to James DREW and his family, hopefully someone somewhere links into this family, and then we can share information about each others descendancy. Look forward to hearing from you, John Notify Administrator about this message?
