Oh, man. And I was going to try to explain this to my cousins??? Let me get this straight: In the first generation we have: Edward #1, Thomas#1. In the second generation. born in the 1660's, we have: Edward #2 s/o Edward #1; Edward #3 s/o Thomas #1, and Robert s/o ??. In the third generation, born between about 1685 and 1710, we have: Thomas #2 and Henry, sons of Edward #2; the 13 children of Edward #3 and Mary TURNER; and John s/o Robert, who married mary DREW. We think Henry probably married the younger Mary DREW d/o Thomas, simply because he's the only Henry around. All of these people migrated to Southampton Co. together, patented land at the same time, and gave their children more or less the same group of names. So it seems reasonable to assume they were all members of the same extended family. Is it a reasonable guess that Edward #1 and Thomas #1 were brothers? Or that Robert may have been another son of Edward #2? Since Edward #2 is the only known son of Martha HARDY, it seems likely that he is also the ancestor of HARDY HARRIS, born before 1740, although not through Thomas or Henry. Now, for 200 bonus points: whose children were the MARTHA, EDWARD, NATHAN, and GEORGE, born probably in the 1730's, who appear in Granville Co. tax lists in the 1750's? Martha married Joseph Hawley and and children named MARY, MARTHA, JACOB and NATHAN. George appears to be the father of the younger HARDY HARRIS. Must be same family, but how?
