First, I'm interested in what you have to say about your grandmother. By any chance was her father's name Charles, I have a possible second marriage on him. The 1870 census of Montana list a Charles Drew, 48 born in NY, Louisa, 36, born in Indiana, and in the same house a Charles Drew, 22, born in Ohio, and a David, 3/12, born in Montana. This Charles took out a land patent for the Montana territory at the same time as my William. They live in the same township, etc. I haven't found conclusive proof but I believe him to be a brother to my William. This Charles would have been born around 1822. He could be the great-grandfather that you are looking for. He would be the right age and with his son, Charles born in Ohio around 1848, it would put the family on the spot. It would be possible for you Marie to marry and stay behind with her husband that to continue on with the family.

Second, the article was published in the Deerfield Academy Alumni Journal, 1951. If you e-mail me a snail mail address I will return a copy. I hope this is a match.
