The 1840 census for Lauderdale County, Mississippi lists
one male under 1 year (James Drew)
one male 20 - 30 years (James Joseph Drew)
one female 15 - 20 years (Eliza)
The census does not show names but James Joseph Drew was born about 1820 in North Carolina and his wiwe, Eliza, was born about 1839 in Alabama. It is reasonable to assume that the first son could have been named James after his father and a later son be given the middle name of Joseph after his father. My great-grandfather, Samuel Joseph Drew, served in the Confederate army during the Civil War and his older brother may have been killed during the Civil War. James Drew would have been 19 in 1959 and could very well have been the man who married Nancy A. Warbington. Thank you for responding to my inquiry. If you don't mind my asking, what are your sources for the information you have? I hope this speculation may be of interest to you. Please keep in touch.
