Dreisbach to Brazil - Need Help!

I'm a descendent of Martin Dreisbach, b. 1717, through Catherine Dresbach (dau of Grariel Dresbach and Maria Pyle) and William C. Robison. This is on my Mother's side.

On my Father's side of the family - there are some Daniel's from Monroe Co., AL from about 1818 to just after the end of the Civil War. They joined a group of Southern Plantation owners and others excused of War Crimes into exile in Brazil, at the invitation of Emperor Pedro II. This group is known as the "Confederados". The group of Southern gentlemen and their families were ill equipment for the deepths of the Amazon Jungle. But, they forged ahead and settled in the Province of Sao Paulo Brazil and developed the town "Americana" in this Province.

The national religion of Brazil was Catholic & non-catholics could not be buried in the Catholic cemeteries - which were the only cemeteries.

So, when the wife of Col. Asa Thompson Oliver, Beatrice Tate (dau of Zimri Tate) died - she was buried on a part of his Plantation and a fence was put around it to keep the cattle out. Before long she was joined by her daughters and the other died loved ones of the community - each time the fence being moved out a little further to accommodate. Before long a whole section was marked off of this Oliver Plantation and dedicated as the "Campo Cemetery" - where a Column was erected and dedicated by engraving the names of the early settlers and original Confederados.

One of the names on that column is "Dreisbach" - I've never found any traces of this family or person.

I'm in communication with my Daniel Cousins - desendents of these Confereados today, thru e-mail and a translator. Every three months there is a celebration in the Campo Cemetery for those descendents of the Confederados. They ware Antibellum dress and speak English with a southern drawl to celebrate their American hertiage.

Through this work I've made another connection through my Father's side & Davis line to James Denny Dreisbach and wife Josephine Bonaparte Tate. James is also a descendent of Martin, b. 1717 and he was born in Pickaway Co., Oh. Records in the Dreisbach Book indicate that he died in Little River, Baldwin Co., AL.

James Denny Dreisbach's family is related to my Davis line that is related to my Daniel line that went to Brazil.

So, my question is there anyone out there working on the James Denny Dreisbach line?

Is there anyone who has every heard any rumors in the family about going to Brazil?

If, not I hope it was enjoyable reading

Any thoughts on these families and connections would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks - Ruth in Portland, OR
