Batavia (Illinois) Herald, Feb. 7, 1900 Over 100 and Never Saw Washington Nathan Tinker Draper, of Grand Rapids, Mich., was 106 years old on September 6. He was born in New London, Conn., and was married twice, but both wives are dead. He draws a pension of $12 a month because of the killing of one of his sons in the war of the rebellion, but never saw any service himself. He has been a gardener nearly all of his life and is still able to do a little "fussing" about the yard, but not for any length of time. He says he remembers Thomas Jefferson very well but never saw Washington. -------- I am not related to nor researching this family and have no further information.
