Apologies for not replying sooner, but I am intrigued to pursue further the line of the English knight. I am trying to find the link here in England between us Drane and our American counterparts. I would like to here more from you, perhaps it would help my search here. Maybe I could help your search too.Do you have any further details reagrding where this English knight came from etc? I was in contact with Larry Drane some time ago regarding West Indies Passenger Lists which show a passenger surname Dran or Draine coming over to Barbados? in early 1600s. This could tie in with an early spelling of the surname - thought to have maybe come from Old English 'dran' which was a nickname for a lazy person! (as if that could be one of ours!!)
