Mark,

I don't think I expressed myself adequately before. I'm trying to say that all the pre-1666 information I've seen so far has been terribly jumbled and provided no way to straighten it out. Even if we can't identify the connection to England absolutely, I'm still very interested in trying to distinguish the various Jameses and Anthonys.

BTW, The Calvert connection is tantalizing. One family story is that the immigrant Drane was an orchardist for the Calverts or the son of the orchardist. (Or possibly several sons came together.) It seems to me that it would be unusual for a Calvert to marry an employee.
