Dorsey,
I have been reading with interest the comings and goings of you 'American Dranes' and I am fascinated to find a link with the 'England Dranes'. Regarding Anthony Drane bn 1666 (poss. James Anthony Drane or Drayne)in Piscataway, Md. I understand his father was one James Anthony Drane bn approx. 1640 Piscataway, Md and died approx. 1687. He married Nancy Brent (Brandt). His father too was called James Anthony Drane and was born approx. 1620 Prince Georges Co, Md and his wifes maiden name was Calvert. It is understood that his father in turn came across from England at about 1600 and landed at Barbados. The West Indies Surname Interests List shows 4 entries (although they could all be the same person)- Drane; Drain(e); Dran; Drayne. I have to say that this information is subject to confirmation, but hope that this starts the forming of a link between us.
My family currently live in Manchester, England but are understood to have originally come from Suffolk/Sussex/Essex.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Regards.
Mark
