I just googled out the name Drake with Kildorrery and found your message. I am searching more than I have answers although I do have quite a bit of information on Kildorrery.
There is a land record that gives the names of the people living on property that was to be sold in 1854 in Kildorrery. One of the properties has a note saying that John Drake signed a lease in 1799 and the present descendant is Maurice Gallagher of Kilcruaig. Maurice was the son of my 3rd ggrandfather and the brother of my 2nd ggrandfather, Thomas Gallagher. I have tried to figure out how he could be the descendant. The lease was for three lives so this was usually for the father, the son, and the grandson. Since this was 1854, and since Maurice Gallagher did not have the same surname as the original lessee, then I am guessing the relationship came through the mother. Perhaps I am focusing too much, but I would think that if John Drake had a son, his name would have been Drake so a grandson would be named Drake too. If John Drake had a daughter who married a Drake, then It could mean that Maurice was a grandson. We are not sure of the name of Maurice and Thomas's mother so it could have been Drake.
Also............... Maurice and Terence were the two oldest sons of Thomas sr. Maurice and his descendants stayed in the original house until the mid 1900's. Around 1860, just after Griffith's, a William Lane took over Terence Gallagher's house - property next to Maurice's. I had just thought that William simply was interested in leasing the house in Kilcruaig, Kilflyn, Limerick - just over the border from Kildorrery parish, but now it seems that William was probably related to the Gallaghers...... I don't want to make this too long but I am interested in being in touch with you about the Drakes. (I did find Drakes serving as Baptismal sponsors for some of the Gallaghers).
