I am sure you know that the will of Lemuel Nicholson, the elder, can be found in Halifax County, North Carolina. He mentions his sons, Joseph Wright Nicholson, Absalom Nicholson, Thomas Nicholson and John Nicholson. He also mentions his daughters, Patience Wright, Phereby Nicholson and Abigall Nicholson. His wife is mentioned but not by name.
You might also want to check the Book, "Halifax District North Carolina Superior Court of Law & Equity, 1785-1805," by Weynette Parks Hawn. Look at pages 201-203. There is a suit whereby a man named Culpepper is suing over a piece of property. This suit clearly gives the sons of Lemuel Nicholson, the elder. Of those sons, Absalom had died, as had, I believe, John. Your ancestor, Joseph Wright Nicholson, was still alive but the brother, Thomas, was also dead. However, the record shows that Thomas had three sons, John, Lemuel, and Thomas.
It is Lemuel, son of Thomas and grandson of Lemuel, the elder, in whom I am interested at present. We believe that Lemuel, son of Thomas, likely was the father of Elizabeth Ann Nicholson who married Sampson Bridgers. We also believe it likely that his wife was a Drake, and I have seen stated, but with no documentation, that Chloe Drake married Lemuel Nicholson.
Write me privately, if you like, and I will be happy to exchange information with you. This is the Drake Forum and I hesitate to go into too much detail on Nicholson, Mann and Bridgers.
