Recent research reveals that Captain Humphrey Drake, brother of Colonel Robert Drake and both killed in Ostend, Nehtnerlands in 1600, wrote a letter to his brother, Nicholas in England asking that money from his will be used to support a son born to him by a gentle Dutch woman.
Another brother, Henry married Anne Champerowne. Champerowne was a protector of Francis Drake in NH. MY theory is that Humphrey's son was George and he had Francis. The brothers were from the family of Robert Drake of Ashe family in Devonshire.
