Draeger Family---Michael in Illinois and descendants---and Martin, and August ec
August was Michael's oldest son, came over first. The father Michael and younger children came over later; to Wisconsin and then on down to Ford County Illinois.I'll try to get a listing I can send out to any interested persons.I am fairly certain that Michael's siblings (at least 3) also came over to settle in the Wisconsin and Ohio/Illinois areas and am working on firming up (or cutting off the branches--as the case may end up).
For what it's worth, on Michael Draeger's (Ford County, Illinois) second marriage to Henretta Barz (later in life and no children from this marriage); I did get some interesting data from the people in Ford County. On the background information on this marriage, Michael listed his father as being Martin Draeger in Germany, and his mother as Anna Forn in Germany. This also matches with an archive the Mormans have.Michael's first wife was Louisa Groner---and difficult to obtain more information on her prior to them coming to America. From them and their children on down, the data is pretty firm.
I have a family tree on ancestry.comStan Handshy tree (not very original).
My grandfather was Albert Emil Draeger (Hallowell, Kansas), son of August Draeger, son of Michael Draeger (of Ford County Illinois).
On my tree, I have some tentative siblings of Michael Draeger from Germany----but it's very tentative----but matches with other family trees; (but little data afforded from them).
I do know that when Grandpa Draeger went to Illinois to visit cousins, he also crossed into Ohio and into Wisconsin to visit other cousins.Slowly, the pieces tend to come together.
Please look at the tree and offer me suggestions if you can and see if you run across any other data on the ancestors. My goal would be to connect the siblings of Michael Draeger (children of Martin Draeger and Anna Forn in Germany----East Prussia/now Poland).Even as common a German name as Draeger/Drager/Dreger is, it looks like many of the descendants that came here were likely closely related---but the trails are getting cold.If you can help, please do.
Thanks,
