James Ingo Dozier Mystery Man
We have few facts on James Ingo Dozier. We do not know when he was born.We do not know who he married.Fortunately he had a will so we know approximately when he died (1791) and the names of his children.I have always subscribed to the theory that he was the son of Leonard II and Elizabeth (Ingo) Ascough Dozier. We do know Elizabeth had a son, James, as named in her will in 1748 in Richmond Co., VA. We do know from 1763 on his wife, Martha, is named. James Ingo witnessed a will in 1747 in Richmond Co. so we know he was there. We find him in Fairfax Co. then in Prince William Co. About 1779 he moved to Kentucky where he died in Madison Co.Most trees now show him as being born ca 1703-06.That would mean he was in his 70s at the time of the move. Most trees show his children as born in the 1750s and 1760s.His wife must have been considerably younger as they had a large family. Is it possible instead of being the oldest son and named first he was a younger son, and perhaps the one still at home at the time of his mother's death? If he was born ca 1720 he would have been about 28 when his mother died, and 59 at the move to Kentucky.Any ideas?
