1704 Ky to MO. May I correct the Dozier lineage you refer to: My ancestor James Ingo Dozier,(born ca 1704) was a son of Leonard Dozier II (born ca 1680) and his wife Elizabeth (Ingo) Ascough. Leonard III born 1710 was a brother to James Ingo Dozier. Leonard III had a son James, but he and other children moved to SC or GA. The will of James Ingo Dozier in 1791 KY mentions all his children, including a son Zachariah. His youngest son was Thomas, my ancestor, who moved to MO Territory in 1812.

Va. I recently received the following info thru e-mail from Portsmouth, VA: The Columbia, Warren & Wilkes Co Doziers are as follows: LEONARD 1 Children: Richard, Frances, Leonard II, John Lenoard II & Elizabeth (Asough) Children: James, John, Leonard III, Mary, Elizabeth, Peggy, Susannah. I've been told that John moved to Bute Co NC, Wilkes Co GA and Columbia Co, Ga. Since I'm originally from Covington Co., Alabama (there is a Dozier, Alabama, by the way), I'm not sure this is my lineage, but I'm searching, too. Good Luck. A. NC The first, James Dozier, was in Bute Co. NC as early as 1764, source for date..."Rebecca L. Dozier cites 1764 renunciation of dower by Mary Melone as proof that she was the wife of James (Warren Co., NC DB A, p. 40) also Warren Co.,NC was formed from Bute Co., NC, 1779; his records being recorded in Warren Co., NC. For Warren Co., NC formation: http://www.skpub.com/genie/census/nc/warren.html. Census records record the following: Dosier, James, NC, BUTE CO., 1771 Source: Colonial America, 1607-1789 NC Census Index, page 96, which is a 19 year difference.
(1783 year Sgt. James Dozier received money from John Kay - 1764 earliest recorded date of James Dozier being in Bute Co., NC. = 19 years difference)
Records recorded with Historical Society's which show that Sgt. James Dozier wife's name was Mary Malone, will be corrected. As for now, that has not been done. If you know of any, please let me know, so that I can address the problem...thank you:)

? - 1782 Ga. Richard Dozier was a son of Thomas Henry Dozier b 1782 and d 1868 in Ogletorpe County, GA. He married Nancy Yarborough. Thomas Henry Dozier was a son of Seaborn Dozier and Mary (Melone) Dozier according to data in my collection. Jim King.

1783 Sgt. James Dozier was in Virginia as late as May 14, 1783, that source, "Sergt. of Artillery, received through John Kay on 14 May 1783 back pay . . . L93-12ss-6d (D.A.R. Nat. No. 102846)." Records during the Rev. War, show that Sgt. James Dozier wife's name was Mary Dunwoody/Dinwoody...not Mary Malone! That quote, "McCall, Mrs. Howard H., Roster of Revolutionary Soldiers of Georgia (1969, rep. 1996) says James's wife was Mary Dunwoody or Dinwoody, but without citation." And the more obvious, my family descends from Dinwoody Dozier, being named for both his mother's maiden name and father's surname...and for several generations the name Dinwoody appears.
