1710 James who died 1849 was born about 1710, it fits with the birth of Rebecca, Nancy, and James W. in the 1830's. (I have no data on Eliza Ann).

Scotland 1760 Seeking infomation on the Alexander and Isabella Campbell enumerated in the 1850 Chesterfield County, SC census. He was born abt 1760 in Scotland. Would appreciate a list of their children and especially the connection with James Dosier who was enumerated in their household. Thanks, James King

1790 The James who married Nancy died in the 1860's and was about 77 years old at the time of his death. He would have been born ca 1790.

NC 1815 Seeking record of the marriage of James Dozier and Nancy Moore ca 1815 in the Halifax District, Nash County, NC. Old family notes state 1815 but more likely early 1800's. This family later migrated to Sumter County, GA.. Most of their children were born in NC. Any info on this family would be appreciated. Jim King

1840 SC Seeking info on Britton Dozer [Dozier] enumerated in the 1840 census of Chesterfield County, SC. Who were his parents, his spouse and his children? Thanks, Jim King

1835 Ga. Sorry, can't help you. I also have Dozier ancestors in Sumter County, GA during that period. John Jackson Dozier was married there in 1835 and two James Doziers appear to be living there. They may be the same person with two different wives. One was James and Nancy Moore Dozier. The other was James and Britten Dozier. The latter died in 1849. The son of James and Nancy Moore Dozier was appointed guardian of James and Britten Dozier's children. Does your Doziers have any connection to them? Jim King

Ga. 1849 Renee, I found the following information in the documents related to the estate of James Dozier in Sumter County, GA in 1849. Lovett R. Dozier was issued Letter of Administration on the Estate. James' wife was named Britten. He owned property in Cherokee County and Sumter County, GA. Lovett R. Dozier was the son of James and Nancy Moore Dozier of Sumter County. Another connection was George Dozier, grandson of James and Nancy Moore and son of John B. Dozier, deceased, son of James and Nancy. He was enumerated in the Felts HH in 1860. Further, Lovett R. Dozier was granted guardianship of Rebecca, Nancy, Eliza Ann and James W., children of James and Britten Dozier. From this information it appears to me that this James was the son of James and Nancy Dozier. The age variation of the children of these two jameses too great for the James who died ca 1849 to be the son of James and Nancy. The children of James and Nancy are much older and have children of their own born in the 1830's. It would be quite normal for brother Lovett R. to be the Administrator. The James who married Nancy died in the 1860's and was about 77 years old at the time of his death. He would have been born ca 1790. Say James who died 1849 was born about 1710, it fits with the birth of Rebecca, Nancy, and James W. in the 1830's. (I have no data on Eliza Ann). I can find no information to show how James W. who was listed in the documents in Sumter County and the James who was enumerated in the 1850 Chesterfield County, SC census in the household of Alexander and Isabella Campbell got from GA to SC. On the basis of the letters they appear to be the same person. Possibly Britten was a Campbell. Certainly, James W.'s son John W. moved to Geneva County, AL in 1889 from Chesterfield County, SC to help his Aunt Nancy who had moved to Geneva County, AL. Rebecca was living with her sister Nancy. As kind a reward Nancy willed John W. her farm when she died. There is definitely a record of the Sumter County James W. and the Chesterfield County James W. as being the same person. The question is when and why the move from GA to SC unless there was a family connection. Hope this doesn't confuse you too much. Jim King

NC 1812/1830 Ann, I have only Skipper data that you sent to me. I wish you be best of luck in you research of Northampton County Records. Maybe you will strike gold! The last new Dozier data was the one that I sent to you earlier that James W., Nancy, Rebecca and Eliza were children of Britten and Lavicy Dozier. Britten was enumerated in Chesterfield County in either the 1840 or 1830 census. Old James Dozier lived in Johnston County, NC 1812-1830. Thus until I can visit Chesterfield County and Johnston County I do not expect to find new data. I have about exhausted the Georgia data. Best wishes, Jim.

Ga. 1835 Seeking info on the ancestry of John Jackson Dozier and Celia Reaves who were md in Sep 1835 in Sumter Co, GA; JJ was alledgedly related to James Wesley Dozier b 1837 who md Hulda Rebecca Alexander and lived in Chesterfield Co, SC 1860.

Ga. 1849 Lance, I obtained a copy of the documents related to administration of the estate of James Dozier in Sumter County, GA 1849 and subsequent years. Lovett R. Dozier, son of James and Nancy Moore Dozier was granted letters of administration on the estate. James' wife was named Britten. She must have died previously or about the same time because Lovett R. was appointed guardian of Rebecca, Nancy, Eliza Ann and James W., children of James and Britten Dozier. This James had property in Cherokee County, Ga and Sumter County, GA at his death. This James W. appears to be the same James W. who went back to Chesterfield County, SC married Hulda Rebecca Alexander and had son named John W.. Rebecca married George Felts in Sumter County in 1852. Nancy moved to Geneva County, AL and married first Noah Meeks and later a Simmons. In 1880 Rebecca moved to Geneva County and was enumerated in her HH in 1880. In 1889, John W. moved from Chesterfield County, SC to Geneva County, AL to help his Aunt Nancy. At her death she willed her farm to him. From first blush it appears that this James is likely a son of James and Nancy Moore Dozier. The age are more comparable and it would be perfectly normal for a brother to be appointed administrator of the estate and guardian of his young children - the oldest being 17. Thought that you might be interested in this finding. Jim King (JasOKing@aol.com)

SC 1850 Seeking infomation on the Alexander and Isabella Campbell enumerated in the 1850 Chesterfield County, SC census. He was born abt 1760 in Scotland. SC 1850 I can find no information to show how James W. who was listed in the documents in Sumter County and the James who was enumerated in the 1850 Chesterfield County, SC census in the household of Alexander and Isabella Campbell got from GA to SC.

Sc 1850/1862 I do not have an answer to your question. I am intrigued by the "Wesley." There was a James Wesley Dozier in Chesterfield County, SC ca 1850-1862. He died in the Civil War. James Wesley had a sister Rebecca who md in Sumter County, GA and a sister Nancy who md a former resident of Sumter County. He named a son John W. as did John Jackson. I would not be surprised to learn that there was a close connection between the Schley County Doziers and Sumter County Doziers. Jim King.

1860 Renee, I found the following information in the documents related to the estate of James Dozier in Sumter County, GA in 1849. 1860s The James who married Nancy died in the 1860's and was about 77 years old at the time of his death. He would have been born ca 1790.

SC 1889 Possibly Britten was a Campbell. Certainly, James W.'s son John W. moved to Geneva County, AL in 1889 from Chesterfield County, SC to help his Aunt Nancy who had moved to Geneva County, AL.
