I believe Robert Doyne (my ancestor) was Protestant, but his brother Joshua of St. Mary's Co., was Catholic. The following information is in the book Early Charles County Maryland Settlers, 1658-1745" by Marlene Strawser Bates & F. Edward Wright:

"Doyne, Robert. Wharton Doyne and William Doyne, two orphans of Robert Doyne, 14 June 1692. (Ct.&Land:Q#1.54)"

"Doyne, Joshua. Deed of gift, 17 June 1697, to his eldest son Dennis Doyne. Plsantation where he now lives, 200 acres on Nanjemy Creek. (Ct.&Land:C#2.239)"

Doyne(s), Dennis, Nanjemy. In his will he left to wife Jane, ex. plantation at Nanjemy; also 200 acres (unnamed). Mentions brothers William, Jesse and Ethelbert. (Will:6.81; 23 Feb `1697; 6 April 1698) (Inv.:17.18; 4 June 1698;...) Legatees: William Doyne, Ethelbert Doyne. (Acct:18.163....C1699)"

"Doyne, Mary of Prince George's Co., dau. of Robert Doyne, on 17 April 1702, conveyed two tracts, Rotterdam and The Indian Town. (Ct.&Land:Z#1.19)"

"Doyne, Robert. Robert Doyne died intestate and his children were Wharton, William, Sarah, Virlinda, Ellinor, and Mary; estate descended to Wharton as eldest son. William inherited this land at the death of Wharton; William died intestate and Virlinda who married Samuel Taylor inherited 1/4 of the land; 9 Jan 1702 (Ct.&Land:Z.8)"

"Doyne, Jesse, age 44. Deposition in 1721 regarding tract calley Paynton Manor. (Chas LandCom:M2.138)"

"Doyne, Jesse, of Pointon Manor, Chas. Co. To his son Joseph Doyne, tract Josephs Lott, 306 acres being pt. of 600 acres purchased by Joshua Doyne, late of St. Mary's Co. (dec'd.), of Madam Elizabeth Calvert. 6 April 1727. (Land:L#2.338)"

"Doyne, Jesse(e). In his will he left to son Robert, 100 acres including dwell. plan., being pt. of 200 acres formerly belonging to bro. William, dec'd; 1,000 acres Timnah Sarah left by father Joshua Doyne betw. testator and bro. Ethelbert, dec'd; 200 acres. To son Joseph, 100 acres of dwell. plan.; 170 acres formerly belonging to bro. Dennis, dec'd.; 550 acres Rause left by father to bro. William, dec'd. To Peter Atwood, personalty.
