The Michael J. Doyle and Elizabeth (Foley) Doyle grave site is located next to the road (St. Joseph Cemetery Drive) off Mills Street. It is in Section C Block 6 Lot 28 in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Sandusky, Ohio.

Cleveland, Ohio, Friday, March 24, 1905


Michael J. Doyle, a pioneer Ohioan, died Tuesday at his home on Collins Place and was buried from the Cathedral Thursday morning. Mr. Doyle was born in Ireland in 1837 and came to this country in his eighteenth year, settling in Sandusky, where he was very well known. He retired from business four years ago and came to this city (Cleveland, Ohio), with his family. His wife, one son, and five daughters survive. They are Leo V., M. Agnes, Clara C., Julia V., Helen F. Doyle, and Mrs. J. M. Miller. Mr. Doyle was one of the pioneers of the faith in northern Ohio and was always a staunch and exemplary Catholic. Solemn High Mass of Requiem was sung at the funeral services. Father Duffy was celebrant; Dr. Farrell, deacon; Father Fahey, subdeacon. Rev. J. A. Sidley was present. The remains were taken to Sandusky for interment.

M.J. DOYLE IS DEAD HE CAME FROM IRELAND TO OHIO IN THE FIFTIES

Michael J. Doyle died at his residence, No. 33 Collins Place, yesterday afternoon. Mr. Doyle was born in Ireland about 1837 and came to Sandusky, Oh., when eighteen years of age. The greater part of his life was spent in the employ of the Sandusky Wheel Co. and the Street Railroad Company of that city.
Four years ago Mr. Doyle retired from active life and came to Cleveland with his family.
In 1868, he was married to Miss Eliza Foley, who survives him. One son and five daughters survive. They are: Leo V., M. Agnes, Clara C., Julia V., Helen F., and M. Elizabeth who recently was married to J. M. Miller
The funeral will be held in St. John's Cathedral at 9:30 a.m. on March 23. The remains will be taken to Sandusky for burial.
