Brad, I think you are looking for a needle in the wrong haystack. The Doyal spelling for the most part can be traced back to at least 1800. Having done a lot of research in Texas I can tell you that Doyle was another very popular spelling, but of a completely dfferent family lineage.
Recently I have been told of one branch of Texas Doyals that think their name changed from Dial to Doyal between 1800 & 1840.
Another family in Indiana went from Doyle to Doyal to Doyle in the late 1800's to early 1900's.
I believe you are correct in assuming that Doyle is a variation of some Irish descent. But after being in America for a couple hundred years the lines are hard to draw.
