I'm not sure of the ancestry, but a recent researcher tied these Doxeys further back in the U.S. The myth is that they came over to American early in their lives -- but that doesn't seem to fit. John Doxey first bought land in Currituck ca 1770 and it listed his residence as a County in Maryland.
