I have traced a Doxey family that moved to Austin, Travis Co., Texas, sometime before 1870. According to a property abstract, a man named Spencer Doxey, possibly a freed slave, was given or sold land by a white man named Doxey, who had been born in Missouri. Spencer's widow was still living in Austin in 1920, and she died in 1924. I can look up more details, if you are interested, and send them to you.
