James Dowsett born 1800 married Hannah Sorells in Chelmsford 1820, they then had a son Thomas. But something went wrong and James and Hannah split. It seems that by 1841 Census, Hannah and a then 10 year old Thomas were living with Samuel Quinn and another child by the name of Mary Ambrose. We know that James moved to Australia. Hannah later married Samuel Quinn in 1848. The family are trying to piece together what happened between James and Hannah as we have always believed that they must have divorced and gone their own ways, but on Hannah's marriage certificate to Samuel Quinn, she is listed as a widow. She must have known that James went to Australia because a number of years after Thomas was married he and his wife and children also came to Australia in search of his Father James - and found him! Does any of this story sound familiar - any little piece of info would be much welcomed. Thank you. Notify Administrator about this message?
