Marriage index shows Margaret Downs marrying 4 Nov 1803 one John Hamilton.
Has anyone researching the family or Prince Edward come across documents which refer to any of these people?Deeds (grantor, grantee, witness, neighbor, previous owner)? Orders?
The first reference to Downs in the personal property tax was 1796.Tax lists checked through 1809.
Chancery file 1805-027 shows that Margaret Downs bought 75 acres from Edward Radford, who had purchased the same parcel at a Sheriff's sale for taxes.At the time of sale the land was occupied by Robert Downs and John Hambleton [Hamilton].Adjoining landowners at time would have included John Billups, Charles Selby and Thomas Yuille.The land located somewhere on Spring Creek.
