I have a John Downing father of my James Downing born 1772 in Burke Co NC. I only have one listing of the above John Downing deeding his household and stock to James Downing in 1793 in Burke Co. Is it possible this could be your Major John Downing line other possible brothers to above James Downing who was in Williamson Co TN by 1800 are William H Downing and Elijah Downing and possibly a John Downing. I have been stuck for years on my John Downing and which one he is any help would be appreciated. Thank You
Jeannie Downing

Other surnames connected to this family and their migration from NC are Sumners, Gardner, Polk, Patterson, Berry, O'Neil (neal etc) with others.
