Maude L. Holmes (1871-1951) married John H. Downing (b.1868) in San Francisco. Their children include Edwin (b.1894), Doris (b. 1894), James (b.1899), John (b. 1906) and Maud (1912-1999), who married into the Bernstein family.
I am nearly certain Maude L. Holmes is the daughter of Edwin Holmes (born in NY) and the elder sister of Catherine Holmes (1872-1930), who married Edgar F. Raymond and am hoping to find someone researching this family who can help confirm or disprove the relation.
