Hi Samantha, Thank you for answering my post, I will keep this on file. Our Downing’s (the son’s of James Downing) took the name of there mother’s (Polly Blackwell) second husband who’s name was __?__ Hood we do not have a first name for him. Jim, Dick, Barrow and Tillmann went by the surname of Hood. So we then had James Hood, Dick Hood, Barrow Hood and Tillmann Hood that were legally Downing’s. I believe some of them still used the name Downing at some points of their lives though. I have seen the name Dick Downing or Richard Downing used in old records, but am still looking to connect them to our family. Lol.. the two different surnames make everything just a little more confusing. This made the sons of James Downing half brothers to Polly and __?__ Hood’s children, David (Kionana), John, Jessie, Ellis and Catherine Hood. Although some list Barrow as a Hood and not a Downing, I am just unsure still. I will look into Barrow being named from an ancestral surname; anything is possible at this point. Lol.. and the dates you gave would put enough time between them to make it possible. Thank you again, Jane... Notify Administrator about this message?
