Hello Larry, Goodness, the Boyd/Downing - Downing/Boyd, idea makes your seach sound so difficult. I have something else for you to think about...In years gone by, 1700's in this case. Young men (usually) could inherit estates and wealth on the proviso that they changed their family name to the name of the estate owner who was usually a relative of some sort, so that relatives name would live on. This happened with Dawson Downings child, a son by his 1st wife Catherine only dau. of George and niece and heiress of Alexander Fullerton. The son b.1775 d.1847. became George Alexander Fullerton, and his own family from then on became known as Fullerton down through the generations. I have no information on the Boyds except that Anne Downing nee Boyd (I have seen the name Sarah Catherine next to the Boyd name, which has been crossed out and replaced with Anne) and her daughter Sally b.8th Sept 1795 died in a fire, in Dublin at the Shelborne Hotel, in March 1816. On the Downings, I will come back to you at a later date. Good Luck with your hunt. Jill. Notify Administrator about this message?
