There is no match on the West Central Fife Downies page for Mary Downie born Kinghorn about 1860. There is also no Mary Downie or McAuley born Kinghorn in the 1881 Census for Lowland Scotland, and no trace of her birth using IGI.

The birth record of her daughter Helen should give the date of Mary's marriage, from which you should be able to find the marriage record - this will give the names of her parents. If she was born in Kinghorn, it is quite likely though not certain that she was a descendant of David Downie and Janet Greig.
